This tour will include a wide range of local museums and historic sites:
10.00 – 11.00 The Historic Ships of Baltimore: USS Constellation tour
Historic Ships in Baltimore represent one of the most impressive collections of military vessels in the world. The tour will provide an overview of the USS Constellations history and a comprehensive walk-through fore-and-aft, spar-deck-to-hold. Hands-on activities will punctuate the tour and bring into focus some of the tasks associated with service aboard a mid-19th century, all-sail, man-of-war.
11.30 – 12.30 National Great Blacks in Wax Museum
The National Great Blacks In Wax Museum is a private non-profit cultural and educational institution, founded in 1983 by Drs. Elmer and Joanne Martin. Featuring over 150 wax figures, the exhibits detail experiences from ancient African royalty and colonial American enslavement, to the Civil Rights Era and the present.
13.30 - 15.00: The Walters Art Museum
The visit will focus on the recent hackathon the museum hosted, Art Bytes. During this event, the Museum made available the new API and invited the creative community to build programs and applications inspired by art or to add to the museum experience. Some of the projects will be presented and there will be the possibility to test them while visiting some of the galleries.
15.30 - 16.30 The Baltimore Museum of Industry
The museums building was originally a 19th-century oyster and vegetable cannery. The tour will include the cannery, blacksmith and machine shop, garment loft, and print shop galleries. There will be demonstrations of the machines and equipment used in each of these industries.
17.00 18.00 The American Visionary Art Museum
